Fire Station Closure

Openness, accountability, and honesty define government transparency. In a free society, transparency is government's obligation to share critical information with citizens. It is at the heart of how residents hold their public officials and elected officials accountable.

This fire station on West Avenue in Pawtucket is closed but many residents are unaware of this fact because our current administration has done a shockingly poor job of informing residents.  What is truly shocking is that the closure sign on this closed fire station is posted in tiny, eligible yellow highlighter that is not visible from even 10 feet away.

Pawtucket residents have a right to know what a shocking state of disrepair our fire stations are in.  We have a right to know when our safety is in jeopardy or potentially in jeopardy.

If I am elected Mayor of the City of Pawtucket I will direct our public safety director and other department heads to inform residents clearly and thoroughly of any changes in our public safety system or public safety assets.  Residents have a right to know when their fire stations are closed and as mayor, this will be a top priority for me.
